Trauma and Healing : Remembering the 5:33 Panel Discussion

25 years after the shooting on the LIRR 5:33pm commuter train, Long Islanders, like communities across
the country continue to be impacted by seemingly random, unexpected acts of violence. This fall
Molloy’s Art Gallery will host the Exhibition Trauma and Healing: Expression in the face of Violence. The
body of work presented was created by Terry Sullivan, a survivor of the 5:33, and adjunct art faculty
member at Molloy.

It is our intention that the exhibit be a spring-board to further dialogue. The Trauma and Healing exhibition will include
opportunities for viewers to respond and engage with the works shown by submitting thoughts or
questions about what they see, feel or remember. These audience contributions will be used as a
framework for discussion by a panel of experts held at 4:00 pm on Nov. 27th in the Kellenberg Hall
Reception Room.
